I was reading in Hosea this week and was struck by one particular piece of scripture....Hosea 3
Hosea was called to reconcile with his wife...an adulteress, a prostitute! It made me meditate and ask God if I had a relationship like that in my life...one where I just let it go because it was too tough...too much baggage...because it was too big for me.
God reconciled us to Himself through a perfect sacrifice...what sacrifice are you waiting on for reconciliation with someone...who is the prostitute in your life?
I think God's best is that forgiveness and perhaps even reconciliation is not ours to withhold.
2 Kings 6:4-7
So he went with them. And when they came to the Jordan, they cut down trees. But as one was cutting down a tree, the iron ax head fell into the water; and he cried out and said, “Alas, master! For it was borrowed.”
So the man of God said, “Where did it fall?” And he showed him the place. So he cut off a stick, and threw it in there; and he made the iron float. Therefore he said, “Pick it up for yourself.” So he reached out his hand and took it.

I believe we are definitely called to forgive - how can you follow the greatest commandment of "Love your Neighbor" if you don't practice forgiveness? How can we love those who hurt us if we don't forgive them? How can we love God with all our heart, soul and mind if we are harboring ill will towards another. Greatest example was Jesus' forgiveness of those who killed him....can we ever be get there??
